Worktrials are an important way of creating an opportunity for employment for the worker.
In a number of circumstances, after having the worker in their workplace, host employers may find that they are a valuable addition to their company, and offer them ongoing employment.
Host employers do not have to pay any wages to the worker during the WorkTrial period and they may be able to introduce a potential employee to their workplace and the role without any of the normal costs of training staff.
Where a worker incurs travel costs or needs equipment to do the job, these are paid by the WorkCover scheme to the worker. Given that the worker is on a WorkTrial, they are not deemed a worker for the purposes of the host's workers compensation insurance. If the participant were to have an injury, there would be no claim against the host employer.
After a period of being injured and unemployed, WorkTrials offer people an opportunity to be back with a company and engaging in the normal routine of work once again.
Self esteem and confidence can be re-established after undertaking a WorkTrial, and possible fears about return to work could be removed.
WorkTrials may also begin to improve fitness as people are moving around and performing daily tasks.
Time in the workplace may offer all stakeholders an opportunity to see how the person is coping in an employment environment, and provide the person with an opportunity to re-establish ties to the community.
Nexus Solutions actively obtains WorkTrials for their Job Seekers and plays an important role through the WorkTrial, delivering support to both the employer and the worker.
Nexus Solutions sees WorkTrials as an integral part of the return to work process, and has an outstanding employer network in regional NSW, ready to provide workers with an opportunity to get back into the workplace.
